The Institute for Culinary Education was a recent CPG project
that was a mix of cooking school, administrative work areas
and offices, and public use areas. The main challenge was
to enlarge and update an existing school, while creating
spaces that would help draw in the public and potential clients.
The project is on 3 floors in an older, mixed use warehouse
building in Manhattan. The client really wanted to stay in
their existing location, but expand. They were able to do
this by carefully planning and staging their construction
around operational kitchens and classes. The end result is
a light and airy industrial-inspired space that doubled their
original capacity.
