This project needed to be completed in two phases, because the 38th
and 39th floors were being occupied by Mitsui’s Executive
Offices. CPG had to complete Phase One, relocate the Executive Offices
to the 35th and 36th floors, then complete Phase Two and relocate
the rest of the staff to the 38th and 39th floors. This required
an additional layer of phase planning during the blocking and stacking
phase.
The relocation also offered an opportunity to discard Mitsui’s
existing “steel desk” space planning and reconfiguration
policy with a more organized and aesthetically acceptable furniture
system. CPG worked with Herman Miller’s Ethospace system to
create flexible pattern workstations that allow for departmental
“boundary marketing” and expansion.
We are very proud of the results of our three year effort. We feel
it is our best.
